Project: Web-Adventure
I saw a post online once talking about how summoning an old god in an rpg series (e.g. Cthulhu) is akin to a collection of ants spelling out your name: you don't know what to do about it, but it's hard to ignore. The ants ask you to kill another ant, you can do that; but you can't make them fall in love with one another. You can make it to where there are only those two ants left though! The point of the post was the demonstrate how an otherworldly entity isn't omnipotent nor evil, and with the ant metaphor shows how little the entity would care about human life. I mean, who cares if you kill an ant or two; there's billions more where they came from!
Anyways, for this project I want to run with this concept. The narrative starts out with the player observing the ants and doing thins for the ants. You could ignore them several times, but eventually they take over your house. You could do favors for them, and maybe you succeed, maybe you don't! I want to create a narrative that borders between humor/irony and horror. Several easter eggs will lead to a couple secret endings. One includes the player's friend bringing them along to summon an otherworldly entity. Maybe the player will be smart enough to realize this is like the ants metaphor, and not join in. Or maybe they won't! I hope to make at least 4 endings, with 2 secret endings. More or less may be accounted for depending on time and energy.
