Brainstorm Blog: Project Blender

I have two key ideas and an additional plethora of smaller ideas. I intend to finish the main idea, then make the simpler ideas as I go, when I have time. As a character designer, my first instinct when opening blender was to create a character. To work the idea into a filter, I intend to create an angel and devil on the user’s shoulders. The angel and devil would be separate filters that someone could flip between, and ambitiously, I may make a third that is the two interacting (e.g. chasing each other around the user’s head like a cartoon Tom & Jerry chase).

Here are my initial, crude sketches of possibilities. Designs are very much subject to change -->
The angel would be primarily themed around gold rings, eyes and wings, while the demon would have mouths, horns/thorns, and goat-like features perhaps. The angel therefore watches over the user, while the devil whispers into their ear, which fits with common lore. Both will be humanoid/bipedal in nature most likely, but I want to lean into a more dynamic and monstrous direction than the classic cherubic depictions. "Biblically accurate," by modern aesthetics. Beyond these sibling filters, the other ideas I have are centered around the upcoming Halloween. Among them include: A pumpkin or Jack-O-Lantern head that lights up when raising eyebrows; a wizard hat and beard, a skull with glowing eyes, and a 3-D modeled dragon head. These are each fine concepts on their own, but since my focus will be on the angel and demon filters, I will only work on these if I have the extra time and resource.
